Storware Redefines Backup and Recovery

Summary

Storware is launching a new, unified backup and recovery solution suite in January 2022. This centralized platform protects diverse workloads, from virtual machines and cloud applications to Microsoft 365 and endpoint devices. It features a modular design, scalability, high performance, and a single, universal license.

Protect your data with the self-healing storage solution that technical experts trust.

** Main Story**

Okay, so, you know how data protection’s been getting more and more complex, right? Well, Storware’s about to drop something pretty cool, I think. It’s a centralized data protection management platform, launching in January 2022, that they reckon will shake things up. Honestly, it looks like a one-stop-shop for keeping your data safe, no matter where it lives.

A Single Pane of Glass for Modern Backups

Basically, Storware’s new suite is a big step up, it seems. Instead of juggling a bunch of different tools, it puts everything under one roof:

  • Virtual Worlds: VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, OpenStack, Kubernetes, Proxmox… the list goes on. If you’re running it in a VM, chances are it’s covered. And that’s a huge weight off your mind.
  • Cloud Apps: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, basically all the big players. With everyone moving to the cloud, it’s essential to protect data there too.
  • Microsoft 365: Don’t forget your OneDrive, SharePoint, Exchange Online, and Teams data. That’s where a lot of business-critical stuff lives, you know? It would be a nightmare if you lost it.
  • End User Devices: Windows, macOS, Linux – all the laptops and desktops are covered. Seems obvious, but it’s often overlooked.
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SAP HANA – fancy database features are included to keep all the business critical data safe.

Why This Matters: Key Features

So, what makes this suite stand out? Here are some of the highlights:

  • Lego Bricks of Protection: The modular design is a game-changer, I think. You only pay for what you need, and you can add more as you grow. I like the flexibility.
  • Built to Scale: The platform’s designed to handle growing data volumes. Scale out by adding nodes, scale up by throwing more resources at each node – pretty straightforward. It means you aren’t going to get caught out if your business suddenly grows, or you start collecting more data.
  • Speed Matters: They’re focusing on performance, which is crucial, isn’t it? Change Block Tracking (CBT) and Changed File Tracking (CFT) speed up incremental backups. No one wants to wait all day for a recovery.
  • One License to Rule Them All: A single, universal license simplifies things, and you know how painful licensing can be. It keeps costs down and headaches to a minimum.
  • Fort Knox Security: Immutable backups, encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), multi-factor authentication (MFA), air-gapped backups… they’re throwing the kitchen sink at security. This is particularly important these days with ransomware everywhere.

Honestly, the immutable backups make the solution seem very appealing for a modern business! It is definitely something to consider when you’re thinking about how to protect your data.
    * Easy Mode: Centralized management, intuitive GUI… it’s all about simplifying things. No one has time to wrestle with complex interfaces. The easier it is to use, the less likely you are to make mistakes.
    * Go Anywhere: Supports local file systems, network shares, object storage, tape libraries, enterprise backup providers… pretty much any destination you can think of. It’s great that you get to choose where you back up, you know? Some cloud solutions only allow you to use their own destination, which isn’t always helpful for you.
    * Recovery Your Way: Full system restores, granular file-level recovery, cross-hypervisor restores, snapshot management, data explorer over iSCSI… It’s all about getting your data back, fast, in whatever form you need it.

My Take?

This Storware suite looks promising. The unified approach and focus on scalability make it a solid option, at least from what I’ve seen so far. I’m eager to see it in action and how it simplifies backup management. Will it live up to the hype? We’ll find out in January 2022. I know I’ll be checking it out, and you should too.

  1. Immutable backups? Sounds like my digital life finally gets the “do not disturb” sign it desperately needs. Wonder if it works on relatives asking for tech support, too?

    • That’s a great point about the ‘do not disturb’ aspect! While it might not silence tech-support-seeking relatives directly, immutable backups *do* ensure that your data remains untouched and safe, no matter what digital chaos ensues. Maybe point them towards Storware too!

  2. The breadth of platform support is impressive. How does the “single pane of glass” approach handle differing recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO) across such diverse environments?
