The Proxy queries the Policy Engine, which then consults the User and Device Inventories. The Policy Engine verifies the user’s identity (via strong authentication), checks the device’s security posture (e.g., is it a corporate device? Is it patched? Is its disk encrypted?), and evaluates the request against context-sensitive policies (e.g., ‘Only users from the finance department on a compliant corporate laptop can access the financial reporting system’). Only if all conditions are met and explicitly verified is access granted to the specific application. Unmanaged devices (like BYOD) are generally not granted access to BeyondCorp resources, maintaining a strict control over the endpoint perimeter.
